CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is a practical, goal-focused therapy that helps you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours. It focuses on understanding how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions, and teaches you skills to challenge unhelpful thinking, manage stress, and improve your overall well-being. The aim is to empower you to make positive changes and develop healthier ways of thinking and coping.
An initial CBT assessment session is about understanding the challenges you're facing and how they’re impacting your life. We’ll discuss your concerns, goals, and personal history to get a clear picture of what’s going on.
In an extended CBT initial assessment and formulation session, we’ll discuss your current concerns, personal history, and any mental health challenges you're facing. I’ll ask questions to understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected. Based on this, we'll create a personalised plan or formulation to guide your therapy, identifying unhelpful patterns and setting clear goals for moving forward.
In a CBT treatment session, we’ll focus on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviours. You’ll learn practical tools and techniques to manage distressing emotions, improve coping skills, and work towards your goals. Each session is interactive, with a focus on developing strategies you can apply in everyday life to promote positive change and better mental well-being.
Walk and Talk CBT therapy combines traditional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with outdoor walking sessions. This approach allows us to engage in therapy while walking in nature, promoting relaxation and reducing stress, all while addressing mental health challenges through structured conversations and therapeutic techniques. Sessions will take place at either Edgbaston Reservoir or Warley Woods.
We’ll reflect on your cases and discuss any challenges and receive feedback. It’s an opportunity for you to develop your clinical skills, ensure effective treatment, and address any concerns. I will provide guidance and support, helping you refine your approach to ensure you're providing the best care for your clients.
